Kingwood / Moving to Kingwood

Moving to Kingwood: a checklist.

What to sort out before you choose a village and a house. You can read every guide without signing up.

Before you choose a village

  1. Commute. Drive your real route at the hour you would travel. US 59/I-69 is the main route toward downtown and the airport, and Park & Ride lots serve Kingwood.
  2. Taxes. Most of Kingwood is inside the City of Houston. Some villages also carry a municipal utility district, and some nearby communities are outside the city entirely. Get the full rate for the address.
  3. Schools. Check the address with the district tools.
  4. Association costs. Many villages bill a village assessment and a separate trails assessment. Ask for both.
  5. Parks access. The five KSA parks require a K-Sticker and membership. See greenbelts and parks.
  6. Flood research. Follow the address checklist before your option period ends.
  7. Club membership. Golf and club access is private and separate from buying a home.
