Where it is
The Heights is northwest of downtown inside Loop 610. Montrose is just west of downtown and Midtown, next to the Museum District.
Homes and character
Restored bungalows and Victorians, new-construction homes and townhomes, and mid-rise condominiums. Lots are smaller and the streets are older than in the suburbs.
Getting around
I-10, I-45 and US-59 circle the area, and downtown and the Medical Center are a short drive. I do not quote drive times, because they change with the hour and the exact address.
Schools
Addresses here are served by Houston ISD. Attendance zones change, so verify the zoned schools for any specific address directly with the district before you buy.
New construction
Builders are active on infill lots. Check historic-district rules in the Heights before you plan a renovation or a rebuild.
